How the rats work

What is JobRats?

There are Gym Rats… and there are Job Rats: people who go after their next job every single day. JobRats is a job-search app for Chile, your own country (Latin America, Brazil, Spain, the US, the UK…) and remote work.

An army of rats looks every day for openings that match your profile, applies for you to the ones you pick, keeps your applications in order and reminds you when to follow up.

Does JobRats apply for me?

Only to the jobs you pick. With the Chrome extension, you tap «Apply with my rats» on a job with Easy Apply.

Your rats fill it in with your answers and leave it «Ready»: you check it and press «Send», from your phone too. They apply one at a time, at a human pace.

They never apply to a job you didn't pick and never send messages in your name.

Where do the jobs come from?

From job sites and the careers pages of the companies you follow. The Chrome extension checks some of these sites from your computer, so keep it installed if you want your rats to search all of them.

You can also add jobs by hand or share them from another app.

Does it only work with LinkedIn?

No. Your rats bring jobs from job sites and from the careers pages of the companies you follow, and you can also add jobs by hand.

They apply for you to jobs with Easy Apply, from the Chrome extension. For the rest, the card has the link so you can apply yourself on the company's site.

How does it know which jobs fit me?

It compares each job with what you set up: roles, keywords, level, location, work mode and salary. Each job shows its fit and the reason in one sentence.

By default you only get the best fits; from the companies you follow, the medium fits too.

How do your rats apply?

With the Chrome extension, on your computer and with your own job site session (we never ask for your password). For it to work, Chrome has to be open (it can be minimized) and signed in to that site.

Your rats fill in the application and leave it ready; you send it with «Send» in JobRats. On Pro you can let them send it on their own.

They go at a human pace, with a daily limit. Your rats apply between 8:00 and 22:00 your time, like a person would.

That keeps your account safe. LinkedIn and other job sites don't allow automation, so there is a risk they may restrict your account: that's why automatic sending starts off and you turn it on yourself.

What if LinkedIn asks something your rats don't know?

They stop and ask you on the card, in your language. You answer there and they carry on by themselves.

If the question is in another language, they answer in that language and «It will be sent like this» shows you how it looks. They remember your answer for next time: see and change them in Menu ⚙ → Your rats → «Your rats' brain».

They never make up answers about you.

What is «Your rats' brain»?

It's where you see what your rats know to fill in your applications. It's in Menu ⚙ → Your rats.

It tells you how much they know of what your jobs ask, and what you still need to answer, one question at a time. It has your details (name, phone, city, LinkedIn and company), what they took from your CV (years per topic, studies and languages) and what you've already answered.

You fix or delete anything right there: if you delete an answer, they'll ask you again when it comes up. What they took from your CV says «check it» until you confirm it.

Which questions do I always answer myself?

Current salary, gender, ethnicity, disability, cover letter and declarations (conflicts of interest, public office). Your rats never answer them on their own: when a form asks, they stop and ask you.

On a card, «Change» fixes an answer for that application only, unless you tick «Use it for the next ones too».

Why aren't my rats applying?

Check in this order:

  • 1) your computer is on and Chrome is open (it can be minimized)
  • 2) the extension is connected, with the rat on the Chrome toolbar
  • 3) you're signed in to LinkedIn in that Chrome
  • 4) your CV is in «Your CVs»
  • 5) you have applications left today (Menu ⚙ → Your plan)

If something's missing, the card in «Waiting on you» says what and has the button to fix it. If the extension's little window says «Paused for maintenance», we're fixing something: your queue stays saved and your rats come back on their own.

What if I already applied to that company?

The card reminds you: «You already applied to that company on…», with the role and the salary you asked for (it looks at the last 6 months). Your rats don't copy that amount.

If you want to ask for the same, change it with «Change» on the salary.

What does «They may see you as overqualified» mean?

It's a heads-up, not a block. It shows when the job asks for 3 or more years of experience less than you have, or when it's a junior or internship role and you have 5 years or more.

If you're interested, apply anyway: it's your call.

What happens if the company closes the job post?

The job gets the «CLOSED» band and is archived on its own in «Closed»; if it was in your rats' queue, you see it for 24 hours in «Waiting on you» before it's archived. Your rats won't bring it back.

If you'd already applied, your application stays as it is: it's just marked that the post closed.

Do I need my CV? Where do I upload it?

Yes: your rats apply with the CV you upload to JobRats, and without it they don't apply. It's the first step of «Get your rats ready» (also in Menu ⚙ → «Get your rats ready» → «Your CV»): you allow us to store it encrypted and upload it, as a PDF or Word file.

We work out its language and you can change it with one tap. Your rats read it to fill in what you're looking for and what companies ask.

If you have one in another language, add it: your rats use it for jobs in that language.

How often do the rats search?

It depends on the plan. On the trial, once a day: they tell you how many they found and 5 come complete.

On JobRats, every weekday. On Pro, every 4 hours.

They also head out on their own as soon as you finish the setup and every time you change what you're looking for. If you want another search, Menu ⚙ → Your rats → «Search again»: once a day on the trial and on JobRats, 3 times on Pro.

The companies you follow are checked every weekday at 08:00 and 16:00, your time. For your rats to search all the sites, keep the Chrome extension on your computer.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. On your phone you see your board, choose what to apply to, share jobs from the LinkedIn app, follow up and get notifications.

On your computer, with Chrome open, the extension searches job sites and applies to what you picked. You choose from your phone and your rats apply the next time your computer is on with Chrome open.

Is there a phone app?

On Android, yes: search «JobRats» on Google Play. On iPhone there's no App Store app yet, but JobRats works the same from Safari or Chrome, with no difference.

If you want it with its own icon, open jobrats.com in Safari, tap Share (the square with the arrow pointing up) and «Add to Home Screen». It gets its own icon and works like an app.

On both you sign in with your email and a 6-digit code. On iPhone, alerts arrive if you open it from the icon and have iOS 16.4 or newer.

Does it work if I live outside Chile, or search in another country?

Yes. JobRats works for finding and applying to jobs in any country, wherever you live, and for remote jobs too.

In Settings you choose where you live and where you're searching: several countries or regions, and whether you only accept remote work in each. Jobs in your country show as «in your country» and salaries show in your currency (pesos, dollars, euros or pounds).

The plan is charged in Chilean pesos and your bank converts it.

What languages is JobRats in?

Spanish, English and Portuguese. The site opens in your browser's language and you can change it at the top (ES · EN · PT).

In the app, you choose the language in Menu ⚙ → Language, and that's the language of your emails and of the Support Rat's answers. Jobs show in the language the company posted them in.

How is it different from applying myself?

You choose and your rats do the heavy lifting. They look for jobs every day, get your applications ready with what they already know about you and remind you when to follow up.

You choose which ones to apply to.

Does the company know a rat applied?

No. The application reaches them with your CV and your answers, just as if you had filled it in yourself.

You review it before it's sent. In Pro you can turn on automatic sending.

Does it work for my first job or an internship?

Yes. In Settings, pick the «Internship» or «Junior» level, and your rats bring you jobs at that level.

Plans and payments

How much does it cost?

You start with 7 free days, no card needed: your rats look for every job that fits you, 5 come complete so you can try it, and they do 5 magic applications for you, with AI. After that: JobRats, CLP 18,990 a month (or CLP 45,990 for 3 months), searches every day, applies to up to 10 a day and every application is magic.

JobRats Pro, CLP 28,990 a month (or CLP 68,990 for 3 months), searches every 4 hours, applies to up to 25 a day, sends on its own and every application is magic. If you subscribe during the trial, we charge you right away and add the trial days you had left.

Without a plan, the app is paused and everything of yours stays saved. Prices are in Chilean pesos (CLP), tax included; your bank converts them.

What happens when the trial ends?

We don't charge you anything: the 7-day trial doesn't ask for a card. When it ends, JobRats is paused until you choose a plan: your rats don't search or apply and the app is locked.

Nothing is deleted: your jobs, applications and follow-ups stay saved and come back just as they are with JobRats or JobRats Pro.

How do I pay?

With a credit or debit card through Mercado Pago. JobRats never sees or stores your card details.

Every payment comes with its receipt by email and stays in My account → «Your payments».

Do I get an invoice?

Every payment comes with its receipt by email and stays in My account → «Your payments», with the date, the amount, the plan and the payment method. That receipt isn't a Chilean tax receipt (boleta) or an invoice: if you need one, write to us from Support.

How do I change my card?

Mercado Pago keeps your card, not JobRats. Sign in to mercadopago.cl with the account you paid with, open «Subscriptions», choose JobRats and change the payment method.

If a charge failed, change it within the 3 grace days and Mercado Pago tries again. The steps are also in My account.

Can I cancel whenever I want?

Yes, in 2 steps: in the app tap Menu ⚙ → My account → «Cancel subscription» (or My account → «Cancel subscription»). There are no more charges and you keep access until the end of what you already paid for.

During the trial or with a coupon there are no charges, so there's nothing to cancel.

What happens if I stop paying or cancel?

We let you know 3 days before each renewal. If a charge fails, you have 3 days to update your payment method; after that the plan ends and we don't try to charge you again.

The app is locked until you come back, but everything of yours stays saved.

Can I get my money back?

Yes. You have 14 days from each payment to ask for a full refund of that payment, no questions asked.

Write to us from Support or at soporte@jobrats.com: it goes back to the same payment method and the plan ends that day. If we charge you something we shouldn't (a double charge, or after you cancel), we refund it in full even after 14 days.

If you just want to stop paying, cancel: you keep access until the end of what you paid for.

How does inviting a friend work?

In the app (Menu ⚙, bottom right → «Invite a friend») or in My account you'll find your personal link. Share it on WhatsApp or anywhere you like.

Your friend gets 10% off their first payment and you get 35% off your next payment. We give it to you 7 days after their payment, if it wasn't refunded.

Up to 4 rewards a year. If you already pay for a plan, your next charge is 35% cheaper; with two rewards, the second one goes on the following charge.

If you don't pay yet (or stop paying before using it), the 35% is saved as a coupon that applies on its own when you pick a plan. In My account, «Your invites» shows whether your friend has signed up or paid.

Are there discounts or coupons?

Yes:

  • 7 free days to try it
  • The 3-month plan, which costs less
  • 5% off your first payment if you leave your email (the Support Rat offers it)
  • 10% if a friend invited you
  • 35% if you invited a friend who paid
  • 10% if you left and come back to search again
  • Sometimes we give away coupons

Discounts don't add up: you get the best one. You use them on the plan page («Have a coupon?»).

A gift coupon doesn't ask for a card and doesn't renew on its own.

Is JobRats free?

The first 7 days are, with no card. After that, JobRats costs CLP 18,990 a month and JobRats Pro CLP 28,990 a month, tax included.

If you don't pick a plan, your rats take a nap: we don't charge you anything and everything you have stays saved.

Security and data

Does JobRats get into my LinkedIn or my email?

JobRats never asks for your password and never reads your email. If you install the Chrome extension, it uses the LinkedIn session you already have open in your browser, only to search for jobs and apply to the ones you picked.

Our servers never get into your account.

What happens with my data?

We only use it to give you the service. You can download it or delete your account from My account.

We follow Chilean data protection law (Law 19,628 and Law 21,719).
